How did you meet?
We met at a crawfish boil in March 2021. Alex was a personal trainer, and I (Lori) was a server at Hacienda San Miguel's. One of Alex's clients was also my regular customer on margarita night. We were both invited to their annual crawfish boil, where we met and had a small conversation, but life took us different directions afterward. It wasn't until a few years later that we reconnected, and this time the timing was right. What started as a chance meeting eventually turned into the love story we're celebrating today.
Who made the first move?
Alex definitely made the first move. He slid into my DMs and kept the conversation going until one day he finally asked for my number. Thankfully, I said yes!!
What first attracted you to each other?
Lori: What first attracted me to Alex was how sweet and genuine he is. From the beginning, he showed kindness to everyone around him and always put others before himself. His selfless nature and caring heart stood out to me, and it didn't take long for me to realize how special he truly is.
Alex: Beyond her beauty, what first attracted me to Lori was her strength, compassion, and the way she genuinely cares for the people in her life. Her presence lights up a room, not just because of how she looks, but because of the kindness and warmth she brings to others. Lori has an incredible heart and will do anything for the people she loves, especially her friends and family. I deeply admire the passion, loyalty, and dedication she shows towards the people and things that matter most to her. Those qualities are what truly drew me to her and continue to inspire me every day.
What is your favorite memory with each other?
Lori: My favorite memory with Alex is our vacation to New York City. Walking through the city, discovering new places, and laughing our way through every adventure made it unforgettable. It was one of those trips where I realized that no matter where we are, being together is what makes the experience special.
Alex: My favorite memory with Lori was definitely our trip to New York City. It was our first time exploring and experiencing the city, and every day felt like a new adventure! We took the ferry to the Statue of Liberty at sunset, Lori’s favorite time of day, and the views were unforgettable. We ate so many tacos at a little place we discovered in Times Square, and they quickly became one of our favorite parts of the trip. We even rode an observation lift that overlooked the entire city, giving us a breathtaking view of the skyline. It was an incredible experience and a trip I’ll always cherish with Lori.
What is your favorite way of spending time together?
Our favorite way of spending time together is honestly just being together. We love relaxing at home, watching our favorite shows, and enjoying each other's company. No matter what we're doing or where we are, it's the time spent together that means the most to us.
How did you get engaged?
We got engaged at the Fairhope Pier during sunset, which made it even more special because sunsets have always been my favorite. The pier was also a meaningful place for Alex, as it was somewhere he would often go to find peace and clear his mind. Knowing how much that place meant to him, and getting to share such an important moment there together, made the proposal absolutely perfect and unforgettable.
Why did you decide on a destination wedding?
We decided on a destination wedding because we wanted more than just one day. We wanted an entire weekend to celebrate with the people we love most. Since many of our guests would be traveling anyway, we thought, why not turn it into a vacation? A destination wedding gives everyone the chance to relax, make memories together, and enjoy a beautiful getaway while celebrating such a special moment in our lives.
